Phygital art is the combination of a physical artwork (e.g. a painting on paper) with a digital certificate of authenticity (NFT) on the blockchain. At Peculets you always buy both: the real artwork for your wall and the digital certificate for your digital collection.
What is an NFT and why do I need one?
An NFT (Non-Fungible Token) is a unique digital certificate stored on a blockchain. It serves as a forgery-proof proof of the authenticity and provenance of your artwork. It guarantees that you own the original.
Do I need crypto knowledge to buy on Peculets?
No, absolutely not! You can pay with your credit card as you normally would. If you don't have a crypto wallet yet, our partner Crossmint automatically creates a free wallet for you, simply linked to your email address.
For Collectors (Buyers)
How do I verify the authenticity of my artwork?
Every artwork on our special paper is equipped with a tamper-proof NFC chip and a hologram. Simply hold your smartphone (with NFC enabled) up to the chip. You will automatically be directed to your digital certificate of authenticity (COA).
How do I receive my NFT after purchase?
After you have paid for the physical artwork, the NFT will be sent to your wallet. You can log in to Crossmint at any time using your email address to view your NFT.
Can I return the artwork?
Pre-made artworks are subject to the statutory 14-day right of withdrawal. For individually produced works (commissioned pieces), the right of withdrawal is excluded. Details can be found in our withdrawal policy. Important: the physical artwork and the NFT are inseparably one product. Returning the physical artwork also means transferring the NFT back.
For Artists
How can I sell my art on Peculets?
The process starts with purchasing our special paper. You order the paper, paint on it and send it back to us. We create the NFT and list your work for sale in our curated shop.
How and when do I get paid?
When your artwork is sold, you receive the sale price minus our commission. Payment is made after the buyer's 14-day withdrawal period has expired.
Do I retain the copyright to my work?
Yes, as an artist you generally retain the copyright to your work. The buyer acquires the physical original and the NFT as a certificate of authenticity, but not the right to commercial reproduction.
Technical Questions
Which blockchain does Peculets use?
We use the Polygon blockchain. Polygon is a Layer-2 solution for Ethereum, characterised by very low transaction costs and high environmental friendliness.
What happens if the NFC chip breaks?
Since the NFT is stored immutably on the blockchain, your digital proof of authenticity is preserved in any case. Please contact our support team if you experience any issues.
